Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What’s your wedding photography style?
My wedding photography style blends both documentary and editorial approaches. I have a background in photojournalism, and I’d say that on average, 80% of a gallery will take that sort of documentary approach, while 20% will be group photos and posed couples portraits with some editorial flair.
I find that most people have never had professional photos taken and find a bit of direction helpful. That said, I’m always happy to take an even more journalistic approach and capture almost entirely candids, if that’s your jam.
Q: How long have you been photographing weddings?
I’ve been photographing weddings since 2020. I am also a food, travel, and portrait photographer, which I did for many years prior to that. Right now I also work as a full-time staff photographer for a university.
Q: How do you deliver wedding photos? Will I be able to use the photos however I want?
I deliver a downloadable high-resolution gallery of images through an online service called Pixieset. You (and anyone else you give the link to) will have access to the gallery for 6 months following delivery, during which time you may back the gallery up to hard drives, download it to your computer, print the photos, make photo books, share the images on social media, and so on and so forth. You can do anything with your images besides sell them, alter them, or submit them for commercial or editorial use.
Q: Will you remove blemishes, exit signs, and other things like that? Is that an extra charge?
Every image you receive in your final gallery is carefully edited. First the images are selected, then adjusted to the correct exposure and color balance, cropped, and straightened. My priority to create a thorough, cohesive, and beautiful documentation of your day. Therefore, it’s my goal to edit out anything that distracts from the final product.
If I notice a patch of dead grass in front of your first kiss photo, I’ll likely edit it out. If there’s a glaring, red exit sign above your first dance photos, I’ll edit that out too. I try to catch blemishes and stray hairs, but if I miss details like this I am always happy to edit them out upon request. Extensive requests may incur additional charges and are handled on a case-by-case basis.
Q: Are you LGBTQ+ friendly?
You bet. I love documenting and celebrating all kinds of love, and am a proud member of the LGBTQ community myself.
Q: How far are you willing to travel?
I’m based in Kittery, Maine, and I typically photograph weddings in southern Maine (Portland, Ogunquit, Kennebunkport, South Berwick, York) and in southern New Hampshire (Portsmouth, Rye) and the surrounding Seacoast area. I tend to prioritize booking locally. What can I say — I love it here!
That said, if you want to fly me to Ireland for your elopement I certainly won’t say no.
Q: What’s your editing style?
I’d describe my style as true-to-color with a hint of drama. I love the colors, grain, and tone of film photography and tend to emulate them in my edits — it’s why I also love shooting film! I also tend to gravitate towards high-contrast, journalistic images and dramatic lighting.
That said, I try to keep my greens, image warmth, and skin tones fairly natural and true to life. If we shoot at sunset, your photos will be golden and warm. If we shoot on a foggy day in a field, your photos will be moody and lushly green. I don’t like to mess much with how things looked in real life: what you experienced is what you’ll get.
Please make sure to look through the most recent additions to my portfolio to make sure that my editing style fits what you’re looking for!
Q: When will I get my wedding photos back?
I send a sneak peek (usually between 12-15 images) within 48 hours, and I guarantee an 8-week turnaround for full galleries. Turnaround times are often faster in the winter, but during peak wedding season (May - November) you can expect to receive your full photo gallery approximately 6-8 weeks after your wedding date. From what I’ve seen, this is a pretty standard wedding photo turnaround time.
But why does it take so long? First, because I deliver a minimum of 600 images for full-coverage wedding galleries which, at 2 minutes per image, means I spend ~20 hours culling, applying edits, and removing individual blemishes and exit signs. But in reality it’s more than 20 hours — I typically spend almost 30 hours working on each wedding gallery…and I work a 9 to 5. So, thanks in advance for your patience, and please know that I’m ALWAYS happy to expedite a small handful images if you tell me exactly which images you want faster.
If you would like to expedite your full gallery delivery you can choose to jump to the front of the line by paying an added fee.
Q: What’s your availability for 2026, 2027, and 2028?
I’m no longer taking bookings for 2026. I am now booking 2027 and 2028. Please reach out with your date to inquire about specific availability.
